Tofu Fried

Tofu Fried is often prepared in Japan, so it is a Japanese Specialty.

Instead of firm tofu, Silken Tofu is used, which is very important because the silken tofu is much better for frying.

It is also important to drain the water from the tofu well.

  • Ingredient List:

  • 200 to 600g Silken Tofu
  • Cooking oil
  • Starch
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • White radish or daikon
  • Shiso or basil leaves
  • Onions, finely chopped
  • Ginger
  • First, put the tofu water away and allow the water to drain completely from the silken tofu.

    Cut the tofu into pieces (varies depending on the amount of tofu) and completely numb with the starch.

    Then heat the cooking oil and the silken tofu fry until it assumes a yellow color.

    Then take away the tofu from the oil and let it drain. In a saucepan, then sugar, salt, mirin and soy sauce were mixed and heated to boiling.

    Then divide the tofu on several smaller bowls, fill each bowl with a little soy sauce and at the end it can be garnished with a little shredded ginger, basil or shiso leaves.

    Mirin is a sweet rice wine, which is used in Japanese cuisine for cooking.

    Among the various Soy Sauces there is more information. Daikon is a Japanese white radish, shiso is also called perilla and is a plant that is related to the basil.

    Instead of Shiso one can use basil too. Ginger is a well-known Asian spice. To mirin, daikon, shiso and ginger, there is not yet any additional information.
